As you come off the trail you arrive at an open space with a small rise ahead of you. When you go to the top of the rise and walk across the leveled area to the east you come to the edge of the Heiau and look down on the valley below. The river is still navigable by canoe or kayak up to this point The Hanalei Valley is a wildlife refuge and many interesting birds nest and feed here.
