Lunch was served on the waterfront in the building with the flag.

We sat at a long table with Dimitri (not seen) and his wife (in the bowler hat).

Food was served in bowls, like these hard-boiled eggs.

There was a crunchy kind of cheese.

And potatoes, of course.

A tasty sort of salsa.

Fried sardines from the lake, very popular.

Fried chicken, quite tender.

Fava beans, a favorite of Dimitri's wife.

All together with hominy corn. Everything was intended to be eaten with the hands, but they gave us norteamericanos forks.

In the evening we enjoyed the traditional Andean music of this lively band.
